NWA Campus


Beautifully landscaped NWA campus is located in the green and clean environs of Khadakwasla area, on the right bank of Mutha river, approximately 10 Km from main Pune city. Khadakwasla dam is about 2 Km upstream from NWA. Central Water and Power Research Station (CW&PRS) is adjacent to the NWA campus, and the National Defense Academy (NDA) is located right opposite, on the left bank of the river. NWA is a self contained campus comprising hostels for the participants; guest house for the visiting faculty; class rooms, library, computer facilities and labs; lounges; and recreational facilities which presently include indoor games, billiards table, basketball, volleyball badminton and a swimming pool. The entire NWA campus has full power backup, in academic buildings as well as in residential area.


All programs at NWA are fully residential. NWA has a hostel capacity of 55 rooms. Participants are normally accommodated on twin sharing basis. All rooms are double bedded and can be used as family accommodation when allotted one-in-a-room. In general, family accomodation is not available for the officers attending the training at NWA. Participants are requested do check beforehand, the availability of independent accommodation, if you intend to bring along your spouse. The NWA mess located in the hostel provides full boarding at affordable, controlled rates.


The academic area has four state-of-the-art lecture halls, a seminar hall and office area for faculty,administration, committee room etc. All lecture halls and the seminar hall are air-conditioned and are provided with advanced audio-visual aids like LCD Projector with PC and remote control for presentations; Slide Projector, OHP, PA System etc. One lecture hall equipped with 25 P-IV PCs is used as computer room cum lecture hall for software based training programs. Another lecture hall is being equipped with 25 PCs, one on every desk, with GIS software, so that hands-on training proceeds simultaneously with the lecture. The computer center is equipped with local area networking, scanners, digitizers, plotters, printers, CD writers, etc. and internet with wi-fi facilities. All the computers and peripherals are on centralized UPS to ensure uninterrupted working.


The NWA has its own library with a good collection of books and journals on all aspects of Water Resources Planning and Development, River Basin Planning and related topics. The Library also has subscription for many magazines and newspapers. If necessary, participants can also have access to the CW&PRS Library which has a even larger collection. The NWA provides adequate facilities to the participants of the training programmes. These include Course material and facilities like computers, library, accommodation, boarding and transportation within the campus.
